The company was born in 2005, founded by Professor Eduardo Ascenso Pires, an expert in biomaterials, following a research project supported by the Portuguese Innovation Agency in collaboration with CATIM, the Portuguese Technological Center for the Metal Working Industry, entitled: “Development of Ceramic Coatings for Medical Implant.“
The aim of this project was to study and create innovative and promising technical and scientific skills intended to find their full utility in the medical market. After an in-depth analysis of the market, its evolution, the needs of the constituent companies, and more, it became possible to precisely identify the opportunities in this field and how to position ourselves in relation to them in the long term, thanks to the unique assets that Ceramed possesses today.
Even before launching, our company already had a strong culture of quality because in 2003, when Ceramed was still in the project stage, we obtained the ISO 13485 certification, making us pioneers in the field of medical coatings. In 2023, we reached a new milestone by obtaining the MDSAP certification, confirming our ongoing commitment to quality. Our efforts have never ceased and have always been rewarded.
Today, thanks to the expertise acquired over the years and a highly specialized technical team, many of whom have been with us since the beginning, Ceramed employs the most cutting-edge production processes and state-of-the-art quality control techniques.
